Fox News Fair and balanced?
I always thought that this was meant as a joke by The News Corp. I almost never watch the channel (sometime they have good coverage of the local weather and if I am expecting a snowstorm I might check in) and my opinion was framed entirely by the bad press that the channel gets (that it is a favorite of low-income people, right wing nuts, old people, and other wackos).
It turns out in a Center for Media and Public Affairs (CMPA) at George Mason University study that Fox NewsChannel’s evening news show provided more balanced coverage than its counterparts on the broadcast networks. But guess what? The study was indirectly paid for by the same people who are behind Fox News. Yet another joke from the entertainers at Fox News!
I don’t think I will watch Fox News ever (just can’t stand their news anchors and now I get my news almost exclusively online including listening to NPR online) but the company might want to do a better job of marketing itself by being truthful.
