So very often we tend to call Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) this 800 lb. gorilla that is too slow to move and hasn’t come out with innovative products for years. Will their latest toy, the surface computer, will be the one? Probably, because it is the first. The company does not do so well when it copies (Zune versus iPod). In the video clip below Bill Gates explains many of the features of the surface computer but what it does by eliminating the mouse and keyboard is that it makes it possible to integrate in so many different places and improves the experience where touch-control computers are already in use (for example, ATM, restaurant/supermarkets, etc.).
While the initial high price will limit its usage but I would expect that eventually prices will come down and allow even parents to buy these as a toy for their kids – great way to learn how to paint without messing up the carpet.
