I have launched a project called “Dollar Bloggers,” in which I am profiling bloggers who are working hard to monetize their blogs. I have already interviewed Lisa Martin and here is the interview with Kat Cooper.

JD: Tell me a little bit about yourself.
Kat Cooper: I’m a single mom of two teenagers, been raising them on my own for the last 14 years now. I love to read, work on computers, watch movies, play video games, and make jewelry.

JD: How did you come up with the vision to blog for dollars?
Kat Cooper: I’ve been blogging for 10 years, and have always had an interest in making money through blogging after seeing many other bloggers do it. I found out about pay to blog companies and have been doing it ever since.

JD: What are some of the things that you are doing to further your vision?
Kat Cooper: I participate in link exchanges, link to other bloggers, read great blogs like Problogger.net, to learn from the best.

JD: What are the top three challenges that you are facing in making a comfortable living blogging?
Kat Cooper: Hmm, I’d say my toughest one is that I won’t blog about just any thing. I love to make money, but there are certain things I just will not “sell.” I see a lot of other bloggers who will post anything, and it’s just not something I can do. My name and reputation is my site, and I value that reputation.

JD: How do you monetize your blog?
Kat Cooper: I work for Payperpost, Payu2Blog, AdSense, Amazon, Text Link Ads. I do quite a bit of different things. I keep my eggs in many different baskets.

JD: Approximately how much time do you dedicate to your blog(s) each week?
Kat Cooper: Well over 60 hours a week. I am always doing something to promote my blog by doing contests, leaving comments on other blogs, leaving links to my blog on other sites. Always working.

JD: What tips would you give to my readers who may want to move from blogging as a hobby to making some money?
Kat Cooper: Be serious about it. This is a job just like any other. If you do bad work, it shows, your readers know it’s bad, you may get booted from the companies you work for. And above all, don’t compromise your integrity. Do not blog about things you would never actually blog about just for the sake of a few bucks. Money is nice, but your name is on your site. Your reputation is more important than money.

JD: Finally, please tell me about your blogs, their focus and how do you monetize them.
Kat Cooper: I only have one blog, My Single Mom Life. I write about being a single mom, finances, politics, education, music and movies. I am always linking to products on Amazon that I love, which helps me earn income. I run various blogads on my site which pay by the click or just a monthly fee. I’m doing pretty good in my opinion.
