My adventures with retro movies continue. It started with Some Like It Hot (Also read my review of View From The Top) and that motivated me to watch another one: Vampyros Lesbos (rated MA). What attracted me to the movie was the fact that it is not a movie that many people even know about, even though it is inspired by the ever-popular Dracula. It is a cult classic and is an excellent example of what are known as exploitation films (think Kill Bill in today’s world).

Directed by Jesus Franco, Soledad Miranda plays the role of Countess Carody, who is a vampire but with a distinct preference for female victims. And Linda Westinghouse (played by Swedish actress Ewa Strömberg) falls into her net on a small island in Turkey.

Indeed, it is not your everday movie but if you have a taste for something different and exotic, you might like it. Contrary to what I expect from a horror film, it actually has pretty good music and its soundtrack (particularly the use of sitar, which was popularized by The Beatles) is extremely popular and can be bought online.
