Option needed to shop online without registering
Like so many others, Lorena and I shop online all the time. For busy executives like me, ecommerce has been a blessing. However, despite consumers like us being so desirable by ecommerce companies, there is one area that some just don’t get it: Allowing us to shop without registering. I can see why an online marketplace would like customers to register (hope that they will buy again, they can engage in some email marketing, even sell their details and make money, etc.), but I have abandoned shopping carts dozens of times when I am forced to sign up first.
It is not that we never sign up. For instance, we do have accounts at Amazon and eBay, but guys, grow up. Unless you are as big as them or even close, stop pretending that you are. If you think that some how I will shop again on your website merely because you forced me to sign up, forget it. And if you send me unwanted emails, I might even mark them as spam or even forward them to the FTC. However, if I love shopping on your website, I will return and also recommend you to others.
Remember two things: Customer is king and Your competitor is only a click away.
