Come, fly with me to space

How serious Sir Richard Branson is about attracting tourists to go to space on his Virgin Galactic spaceship was apparent from their presence at NextFest where I was paying more attention to Pinky, robonauts, and androids.

So how can you get on the flight, for which by the way, there is already a long waiting list? You can pony up a cool $200,000 or if you want to fly for free using your frequent flier miles, start flying Virgin Atlantic and accumulate 2 million miles on your airline credit card.

What if you don’t like to wait and can’t imagine accumulating 2 million miles? There is an option for you too. The Neiman Marcus holiday catalog is offering a space charter for six passengers including medical assessments, training, a ride on the Virgin Galactic spaceship and an after-party at Virgin boss Sir Richard Branson’s private-island retreat in the Caribbean (Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands) for merely $1.76 million. Shoot me an email if you can’t find that sixth person to ride with you.
